Baby Quilt Finish

On a bit of a roll here lately. :)

This little baby quilt is done!
The fabric is from a Charm Pack from Moda called Noteworthy by Sweetwater.
I made the quilt top in May 2013. You can see the first post here: It was calling out to me!

Made a pieced back with some fabric from Ellen Medlock's Charmville and Kona. It's a bit wonky but it's still cute. :)

Pinwheel Quilt

Finished this pinwheel baby quilt for Quilts For Refugees. I hope it brings comfort, warmth and beautiful dreams to whoever will use it.
Kristina helped me cut and piece the blocks during the sewing day Berene organized.
It was fun to work with someone on a quilt.
You can read more about it on her blog Happy Sew Lucky.

Finding Momentum

I remember when I began this quilt. It was sometime in October last year. I was so frustrated that I wasn't sewing anything that I got out two charm packs and decided to just sew. I was done with waiting for inspiration, or just the right design to hit me, or making something that would be fantastic... I just wanted to quilt. So I put this together. I think it could have been better but I had to start this quilt before I could start the 10 other quilts I started after!

This is the top. I might do a border with Kona Snow.

For niece/nephew to be :)

This is for my younger brother and sis-in-law's baby on the way. I'm so sad that I won't be around for the birth but I hope she/he will enjoy the quilt. :)

Wednesday WiP

Missed last week's W.i.P Wednesday. Too much going on and very little sewing. Anyway, the past three days have been very fruitful.

Finishes
Made some Christmas place mats for my sister-in-law and letter banners for niece and nephew. You can see them here.

Basted and Quilted. Needs binding.
Summer Garden being basted
I was on my hands and knees a lot this weekend! Anyway, very happy that I got a baby quilt and two singles basted and quilted. Now it only needs binding and a wash. I feel the most tedious part is over, what with ironing layers and layers of muslin and basting on the floor! So this is certainly a good thing.

New Project
  • Apsara's Quilt - A friend of mine ordered a quilt for her one year old to fit her crib. She really liked the pinwheels on Anagha's quilt so she wanted pinwheels. Apsara is a lovely little happy baby with the cutest nose... :) I hope she'll like it. From what I hear she's into light colors and teddy bears. Going to try to bring in both.

I've been pressing open the seams on my pinwheels. They reduce the bulk at the center of the block and it lays nice and flat. A longer process but very happy with the results. Since I use muslin for batting pressing the seams to one side creates bumps that are quite prominently felt. This is soooo much better.

Quilt tops to be finished
I should have this done by next Wednesday.
In the freezer
Have had to put the QAL with crazymomquilts on hold (can one do that with a QAL??) Anyway, we are in the middle of moving and I have orders that I need to finish so am going to pick this up later. More on the move once its final (fingers crossed).
Happy Scrappy House Quilt. The house blocks are what they were two weeks ago and I think I'm just going to pack them up and bring them out much later.

Go check out the great stuff on W.i.P wednesday at Freshly Pieced. Have a good week.

2 down, 4 to go!

I'm staying focused. I'm finishing my quilts... :) I keep telling myself that at least. Anyway... here's the turtle quilt all done. I love the backing fabric. And I love that its going to a child who was born in the i-pod era and may not listen to music on good ol' tapes!

And here's another baby quilt. Man... I do make a lot of baby quilts don't I. I really like how subtle this quilt is  though I have had some people say it is too light. What do you think? I love the back of this one. The fishy fabric is great for a little boy... or a girl I suppose... I would like it. :)

Had to show you this binding... it's so sweet.

Basting and Quilting

WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced

I've been basting and quilting this week. Finished the single turtle quilt but need to get some pictures. I wonder why I put off basting...the actual sewing does not take very long. It's probably all the layers of muslin I need to iron and lay flat as batting that makes me push it away... anyway...

Quilting this one for a friend who's ordered it for another friend's baby.

Basting the turtle quilt.
Signed up for my very first Quilt-a-long with Amanda Jean at Crazy Mom Quilts. I'm so far behind! I've just had the craziest couple of weeks. Feel bad but I should catch up soon. Fingers crossed.

Aaria's quilt and Noel and Mark's banners are finally done. On a finishing spree it seems.

Trying to get to the finish line...

I've decided to finish my unfinished projects before I start anything new... so except for the QAL at Crazy Mom Quilts I'm just focused on finishing up!

This is Aaria's second quilt.

And the banners for Mark and Noel are done.

Linking up to Fabric Tuesday.

Addicted to half-square triangles!

I think I'm in love with half-square triangles! They are so versatile and such fun to put together. I feel like I'm working with a large puzzle with all my HSTs on the floor... making different patterns.

This one was really quick! Finished it up in one afternoon.

W.i.P. Wednesday

WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced
Linking up to W.i.P Wednesday this week from my new Happy Turtle blog. :) Fabric Tuesday is not happening this week. :(

Aaria's mum has ordered Aaria's second quilt! Here's the first one and the very first one I ever made. I need to get this done this week.

Also have an order for a little boy. The parents want a single though... they want him to use it longer. It's tough planning fabric for the future. I ran this by my nephew and he thinks its not cool enough for a man! Well, I don't think we're looking at making it for a man really but my nephew is 7! Anyway, using some "cool" fabric for the backing so maybe when he gets too old for turtles he can use the back. :)

And started a Friendship Star quilt today as well. :)
