I've been basting and quilting this week. Finished the single turtle quilt but need to get some pictures. I wonder why I put off basting...the actual sewing does not take very long. It's probably all the layers of muslin I need to iron and lay flat as batting that makes me push it away... anyway...
Quilting this one for a friend who's ordered it for another friend's baby.
Basting the turtle quilt. |
Aaria's quilt and Noel and Mark's banners are finally done. On a finishing spree it seems.
love the colours youve used for your turtle quilt, its looks lovely...now following you through freshly peiced WIP linky :)
ReplyDeleteYou`ve been busy! I like the way the flowers are bright and pop against the black background in your pieced block. I know what you mean about basting, I`m much more faithful in finishing tops than putting it all together!
ReplyDeleteThank you Dana... That turtle quilt worries me sometimes... some folk don't like the colors at all! So its encouraging when I find people who do.
ReplyDeleteJeanette... yes seems to be pretty common... so am not beating myself about it... but I am finishing quilts up! I've made up my mind! :)
ReplyDeleteCarol, love the turtle quilt and the 36 patch block looks great. I think that part of a QAL is being behind most of the time :) I saw your question about flannel and the 'not for childrens sleepwear' notice... thats common for flannel because in the US at least sleepwear is required to be fire resistant and cotton flanel is not.
ReplyDeleteThank you Dianne... I'm already feeling so much better about the turtle quilt! :)
ReplyDeleteWow, you have been working hard! I love the colors you are choosing.About flannel, our flannel in the US says the same thing.I think its because its not flame retardent and does not meet the safety standards for children's sleepwear. People in the US seam to use it all the time for quilts, even receiving blankets for infants.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are busy! You have such a fun blog- I love getting to find new blogs from WIP Wednesday. I adore your turtle quilt- what a fun idea!
ReplyDeleteI sure like the very bright print with the green solid for your 36-patch block!
ReplyDeleteThank you Dianne and Kim for the info on the flannel. Really helps... especially since I normally have to figure out things by trial and error. :)
ReplyDeleteOooo - I love that turtle quilt!! Way to keep busy!! :)
ReplyDelete:) Ah... feel so much better about the turtle quilt... thank you Lindsay.
ReplyDeleteGreat looking quilts, it is funny how sometimes we put something off and all of sudden it all comes together. Laying out a quilt for basting is the part I dislike the most.
ReplyDeleteThank you Connie. :) I feel... with quilting... There is a time for everything...
ReplyDeleteI love the bright yellows.
ReplyDeleteI've never basted a quilt, just pinned. I am basting the edge of this one that I am re-doing the binding on.
