Finished my first Twin Size Quilts!

I have been quilting like a crazy person! My family was down to visit and I had to get the quilts for my neice and nephew done before they arrived. Even though the tops have been in the making for a while now, with not having a sewing machine and sewing on Saturdays at the store, I only had about a week to border one quilt, piece the back and quilt both quilts. It's was bloody madness! And ofcourse, my wrists gave me endless trouble, it was sooooo hot, and I had to take over the dining table for a week.

I am happy to say that at the end of it, I finished the quilts and gave it to them on the day they arrived, and they loved it. :)

This one was for my niece. I started the top in a Beginner Machine Quilting class at the store. I have to say I really enjoyed the class and Jeannie Jenkins is a great teacher. I made the quilt larger than the lap size we were making in the class.

Straight line quilting in the negative space. The lines are approximately 1/4 of an inch apart or maybe a hair more.  It was a looooot of work and especially since I had to get it done in a week... which really meant 5 hours every evening since I was at work for the rest of the time. I didn't cook. I didn't clean... I didn't talk to my husband... I sewed and sewed and sewed! :)

I love the result even thought there was a lot of starting and stopping and thread cutting and snipping. Put my automatic thread cutter to good use on my new Janome.
This one was for my 8 year old nephew who apparently also has a  skull and crossbone bathrobe! :) So this works out nicely for him.

  2. Wow, they are both awesome. And yes, that 1/4 inch quilting is very time consuming, but the results are well worth it. Hope they love their quilts!
